Beyonce Knowles was born on September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas. Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was named after her mother's maiden name to pay homage to her French-speaking, maternal grandparent's who were Louisiana Creoles.
Early in life, Beyonce Knowles displayed her talents and love for what she can do. She was only 7 years old when she took on lead parts, doing the solo's on the pieces the choir where she was a member of. She took dance classes wherein she soon became it's star pupil She has amassed thirty awards for singing and dancing.
Along with her cousin Kelly Rowland and two of their, LaTavia Robertson and LeToya Luckett formed a quartet, Beyonce Knowles was just 8 years old at the time. As "Girl's Tyme", which were now a group of young ladies of a quartet saw getting on the show as a big break that quickly turned into disappointment for all of them when they didn't win, appearing and competing in the popular talent contest TV show,"Star Search" in 1992.
Her father, who was also Kelly Rowland's legal guardian, Mathew Knowles, felt for the girls and decided to help them reach their dreams of being singers. He quit his job as a salesman, handling multi-million dollar equipment deals for Xerox. Now, dropped along with his job was the six-figure salary that came with it, on which the family kept and depended on financial stability. An amazing sacrifice not only by her father, although the decision was his, the entire family pitched in on whatever way they could. With their finances now nowhere near what it used to be, they left their house and moved in into two apartments.
